What does one penny mean to our schools and our communities?
On April 9, voters in LaSalle County will decide on a one-cent, county sales tax for schools, and the benefits of this one-cent proposal will reach everyone in our county.

Better Schools

One penny means that schools across our county will be safe, well-maintained and up-to-date. It means that our children will have access to the facilities they need to support a 21st century education.

More Jobs

One penny will put people to work across LaSalle County at a time when our local economy needs it most. The one-cent sales tax for schools will provide ongoing funds for renovation and construction now and into the future.

Property Tax Relief

One penny means hundreds of dollars in reduced property taxes for LaSalle County property owners. And with the sales tax in place, visitors to LaSalle County - who already pay about a third of the sales tax collected in the county - will be supporting our schools with their spending. In many cases the sales tax will reduce (abate) current property taxes.
